CERAMIC THERMAL PLATE
Home - Página de inicio
The only one like it in the world: offest printing plate with ceramic surface and Computer to Plate technology with 830 nm. thermal laser diode.

The special physical and chemical characteristics of the ceramics provide this plate with important practical advantages compared to all the other existing electrograined and anodized plates.

Extraordinary hardness of its non-image area which avoids scratches and allows very long runs without wear out or disappearance of the grain, while maintaining constent printing quality during the whole run.

Less dampening is required while reducing the quantity of water / alcohol and increasing the gloss and intensity of the ink.

Without oxidation, therefore it is not necessary to gum the plates during press stops.

High spectral sensitivity and perfect reproduction of very fine halftone dots and FM, thanks to the fineness of its ceramic grain and therefore, achieving easily a high printing quality.

Compatible with most of the thermal platesetters and developers available on the market.

Technical Characteristics

Thermal positive plate to operate in CtP systems with infrared (IR) laser diode between 800-850 nm. No pre-heat required. Ceramic non-image area.

Exposure / Coating
Coating colour: blue intense
Contrast after development: very high
Day light sensitivity: up to 2 hours exposure does not affect the plate
Spectral sensitivity: 800-850 nm. Peak sensitivity at 830 nm.
Compatible with most of the thermal platesetters: Creo, Heidelberg, Screen, Lüscher, ect…
Required energy: 100-120 mJ/cm2
Image reproduction: 1-99% at 250 lines per inch and FM screening

Development
Use developer Revelith-CTP at 23ºC ± 1ºC
Compatible with most of the thermal plate developers on the market
Development time: 30 seconds ± 5 seconds
Replenishment: with the same developer at 110-130 ml/m2

Gumming
Use Gomalux-C
When hardened by baking, apply Quemagum-LP

Deletion
Use deletion pens Dualpoint-LP

Baking
Hardening the coating by baking enables very long runs, more than 1 million prints without wear out of the ceramic non-image area
Apply Quemagum-LP gum
Baking conditions: Static oven: 200-230ºC during 5-6 minutes
On-line oven: 230-250ºC during 3-4 minutes

Press performance
150.000 prints unbaked and more than 1 million after baking
Reduce the required dampening while enhancing the gloss and intensity of the ink
We recommend the use of plate cleaner Limpiamatic-C and fountain solution Aqualith-C or similar products with pH 5-6

The new ceramic plates developed by
mean an important technological innovation with many advantages for the offset printer, replacing the traditional aluminium substrate electrolitically grained and anodized by an aluminium sheet, covered by several ceramic layers by means of an electrolytic process.
Compared to the "waterless" plates which print
completely without water, the ceramic plates
can be called "lesswater", benefiting from the
high printing quality of the "waterless" plates
but without its drawbacks.
MAIN ADVANTAGES
LESS WATER AND LESS OR NO ALCOHOL
The ceramics is a material more hydrophilic
than the anodized aluminium, thanks to its
better surface tension, and it improves the
dampening of the non-image area.
The effectiveness of the dampening is
enhanced by the special topography of the
ceramic surface, formed by thousands of
micro-spheres which increase the total surface
and the effect of capillarity.

BETTER PRINTING QUALITY
The decrease of dampening reduces the
emulsifying of the ink and increases the ink
coverage over the material to be printed,
avoiding dimensional changes in the paper and, therefore, improving the register.
Furthermore, the fineness of its ceramic grain enables a high resolution of the halftone dots, between 1 and 99%.

Plancha convencional
Conventional plate
WITHOUT SCUMMING
WITHOUT OXIDATION
Easier ink /water balance as they hardly catch
up ink even when reducing the fountain
solution to the maximum and can be cleaned easily only with water.
Due to its inert nature, the ceramic substrate
avoids the oxidation, therefore it is not
necessary to gum the plates up during press
stops or to storage them.
LONGER RUNS
Thanks to the excellent anchorage of the layer on the ceramic substrate and its extraordinary hardness, a much longer runs compared to any other non ceramic plate can be achieved, without baking. Once baked, runs longer than a million copies can be achieved with the advantage that the non-image area does not
suffer abrasion, therefore the printing quality remains unchanged until the last sheet.
During its production, there is no dissolution of the aluminium, which makes the effluent treatment much easier. Furthermore, since the use of isopropylic alcohol is reduced or eliminated, it is more environment friendly.
TIPOS DE PLANCHAS CERÁMICAS

can supply positive ceramic plates with conventional coating and blank plates (without coating) for newspapers.

Don't hesitate to request samples free of charge. Within a few months we will be able to supply CTP thermal plates of our own technology, offering excellent performance due to its fast exposure and efficiency in the press.

All our ceramic plates are manufactured in the most modern facilities of their kind, strictly following the ISO 9001:2000 standard and are the result of a
research and development effort carried out by a professional team with more than 30 years experience in manufacturing offset plates.
